GNU ddrescue (which is a straight upgrade from dd in the normal case) has gained a --data-preview flag that shows a small xxd-style hexdump sampling as it copies, so now migrating this old laptop to an SSD looks even *more* :hacker_h: :hacker_a: :hacker_c: :hacker_k: :hacker_e: :hacker_r: :hacker_m: :hacker_a: :hacker_n:

Because this seems to have worked, I've now angered computer karma and daring to let Raspbian update on my Pi has broken its tiny GPIO screen. The fb_s6d02a1 module is still loading but the screen now flashes once then stays black. :blobcatflip:

It's been 20+ years of using Linux and it still wastes my time randomly breaking in a way Windows stopped doing after XP finally let us play games on NT.
