hey why not have a music thread here, since I had one on twitter? gonna open with a recent favorite; Keiki Kobayashi is one of my favorite composers working in the industry, and they really knocked it out of the park on this one. Check out "Daredevil" from Ace Combat 7, ideally on headphones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kVdCaczLE8
If you didn't end up playing Just Shapes & Beats, it's entirely possible you missed out on its absolutely bangin' soundtrack, taken from the works of a number of chip, step, and wave artists like Sabrepulse, Pegboard Nerds, and a bunch of others. But of all of them, Danimal Cannon is one of the biggest standouts. Try "Long Live The New Fresh," from their album Lunaria: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z5Pk4aTl8A
Sleigh Bells are one of those bands you've probably -heard-, but might not have identified; they've been used for trailer music a few times, but they've got a lot more to offer than just that. They're definitely worth it, so have one of my favorites from their library. Give a listen to "Young Legends," from their album Bitter Rivals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHvatGsX2yI
Jumping back over to game music, you know what had some seriously awesome OSTs? The Virtual On series. I always mained the dude with the big mace, but my second choice was usually Raiden, the one with the bazooka and the shoulder cannons. And the theme for the Raiden was SICKNASTY. Check out "Fade to Black," from Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrATGEhCm5E
since I'm in a serious Sega mood, why not have a tasty remix of some classic Yuzo Koshiro? Streets of Rage Remake(keep circulating the tapes) is one of the best tribute fangames I've ever played, and as per series tradition, it had a banging soundtrack. Dig on their remix of "Fighting in the Streets": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH0JI70yq0o
been a couple weeks for the music thread; my current jam is all about that Guilty Gear, though. Baiken's theme from Xrd Rev 2, "Rokumon," is still one of my faves; I particularly love how it uses recurring hooks and riffs from her prior theme, "Momentary Life," in new contexts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kre7LgmMIhw
the music thread is back again, this time with one of my favorite Paul Gilbert tracks. you might know him better as 'the guy from Mr. Big,' but he's actually one of the best metal guitarists alive. here's "17th Moon" from 1999's Technical Difficulties by Racer X: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vkdsTb56H8
