We're uh, getting kinda snowed in here.
They're expecting another 5" starting at noon today, too.
And then even more tomorrow.
I took a couple photos 20 minutes apart on Monday afternoon to show how much it was snowing. First I shoveled out our driveway for a good comparison.
You can see how heavy the snow was from how much just 20 minutes of it weighed down the rhododendron (leafy bush) on the right in the photos! And the salt on the path, trying its very best.
Yesterday it rained almost all day long. Today we have a foot of standing slush on all the roads. Tonight it's all going to freeze solid. D:
@mawr Are you gonna be okay? That's an awful lot of cold wet comin' down up there.
@LexYeen Yup! We're doing just fine. :D
@mawr Mawr if you need groceries or something I might be able to give you a rides along lake city way without worry. I can’t get up your way, but I can at least make it that far
@kobunny We're still mobile! It takes more than this to keep us boxed in. :D
But there's an awful lot coming!! XD
@mawr oh wow!
@SuperCee IT'S SO FLUFFYYY
I'm definitely getting my snow fix :D
@mawr Fresh snow for the corgs to scamper in!
@mawr I was waiting for two small objects to go speeding by at the speed of corg.
@mawr oh no.
re: Seattle Snowstorm
@mawr Augh, that sounds like such utter *ass* to deal with. Good thing mawrs are from cold climates and know how2sno, I guess?
re: Seattle Snowstorm
@LexYeen Pretty much! I've been teaming up with our Canadian neighbors to try to keep our street from freezing solid. ^^
@mawr Snowed in with 5in?
Seattle dosn't normally get much do they?
@Sir_Boops It's 5" on top of 8" on top of 5" all in the last 7 days.
Seattle gets maaaaybe one snow a year on average, and it's usually melted by the next day or two. Their snow removal budget is planned accordingly.
In addition, they won't use salt on the roads here because of how damaging to the environment it can be, so the snow gets packed down, partially melts then freezes solid.
Add to that the fact Seattle is full of lots of really steep hills and you can see how this is a Problem.
> No salt and hills
Aaaaa ok that makes sense
Also TIL you guys don't use salt down there, it barly works here half the winter and there is so much of it I can taste it when standing next to cars XD
@Sir_Boops Yeah. Those are the main problems here-- that and the lack of budget which means a lot of roads just... don't ever see a plow.
I grew up in MN where they use so much salt on the roads that a lot of places have to re-sod their grass along the city streets every few years because otherwise nothing will grow there
@mawr Mmmm turning every body of water into a salt water lake
@mawr Time to cuddle up to your plushies and stay warm!
@RebeccaDeersweet yes!! :D
